Located in Mt. Emei, Baoguo Temple was the first temple to be built on Emei Mountain, served as the headquarters of the Emei Mountain Buddhism Association and acted as the Buddhist activity centre of Emei Mountain. Baoguo Temple is the starting point of the Mt. Emei tour and is regarded as the gateway to the mountain.
While visiting the Bao Guo Temple, you can appreciate the many historical relics found in the temple such as a famous colourfully glazed porcelain Buddha. Built in 1415, standing 24 metres high, the Buddha is sitting straight on the lotus leaves, wearing lotus clothes with a symmetric proportion making this relic something special for the eye to behold.
Baoguo Temple is a great place with many Buddhist festivals held there every year. Many Chinese leaders, foreigners and Buddhist societies visit Baoguo Temple regularly and enjoy an excellent welcome. The temple certainly leaves a lasting impression on all who visit, worshippers and tourists alike.
