Dear China Holidays:

My wife & I safely returned home from our trip to Australia & China.
We enjoyed our time in China very much and compliment you that all the arrangements worked well.

The New Year’s Day falls on the 1st, January, 2012. All over the world celebrate it on that day no matter with the traditional or the modern ways. It is not the traditional festival but also celebrated in Chinese calendar and the people have a one day holiday.

The Origion of New Year’s Day in China
Originated in the Republic of China and evolved from the Chinese New year, so the festival is some resemblance to the lunar Chinese New Year or the simplified edition of Chinese New Year during its early times when the people celebrate it. Slaughter goose and chickens for food, fire the fireworks, worship the ancestors, made some dumplings, etc. It is the beginning of the Year in solar calendar. All of these activities demonstrate the best wishes for the New Year. Nowadays, more and more people celebrate it in China even to 1 day legal holiday.
The whole country has a 1 day holiday to desire a happy life in the upcoming year with a more simplified ceremony.

Some Activities
There are three kinds of ceremonies to celebrate this festival below:

1 Day Holiday
First of all, all over the world view it as a legal holiday to celebrate the festival including the Chinese people. They can have a good rest at the beginning of the New Year. After the whole years hard job, only a relaxation can dispel the tiredness of the past year.

Some Parties
During the 1 day holiday, most of the people would hold a party such as the night party with some songs and dances and some other shows. There would be a night party in every school, TV, and companies. Before the holiday, the school would encourage the students to study hard in order to get a good score in the test. The companies would have an annual meeting to summarize the company performance and arrange the tasks in the New Year. It is a get-together for the youth. The friends and relatives would have a party to be together during the past days as they are too busy to meet each other. Some others would like to travel in the holiday, which is also another format of relaxation.

Some Traditional Ceremonies
Some traditional ceremonies would be held in the suburb areas. It is the simplified Lunar Chinese New Year. Fire the fireworks, cook some delicious food, such as the goose, chicken and dumplings, and worship the ancestors to celebrate the New Year with the elapsed relatives together. The family members will have a happy day together. It is the most important thing of the New Year ---- Reunion.
