Bus – Taking a bus is also a viable option. The big advantage is that you can get off at the Jinshanling Great Wall, which is about half way from Beijing to Chengde near the border of the Province Hebei. Air-conditioned buses leave for Beijing every 30 minutes and tickets are RMB 45. The bus station is just off the entrance of the Beijing-Chengde highway.
Taxi – Taking a taxi within the city will cost about RMB 5 and RMB 10 to the surrounding area. Most drivers won't use the meters, so you'll have to agree on a price before setting off.
Train – The most comfortable and convenient way to Chengde is by train from Beijing. The Chengde express from Beijing takes about 5 hours and is a soft seat train. One-way tickets cost RMB 61. From the Chengde train station it's only a 15-minute taxi ride into the city centre. |
