Food and Restaurants

Culinary variety isn't great and prices are steeper than in the city, and serious nature lover's intent on staying a few days at the park should stock up at a supermarket before setting out. Food in this area is mainly Sichuan, with variations on the theme. The food inside the park is simple comfort cooking, the China Travel Hotel is a good choice and features comfortable dining rooms offering local fare. Outside the park are hotel restaurants offering more choices. Tibetan restaurants at Shuzheng Village sell the local staple of noodles and Tibetan buttered tea, a local favorite.

Songpan's twisting alleys are jammed throughout the day with food stalls, many of them selling meat kebabs. Sichuan hotpots and rice dishes are found in nearly every restaurant. Other local specialties include a potato snack, shredded potato pancakes with vegetable. Yak steaks also make good eating.
