Stone vase made of yanzi shi, Tai Shan Souvenirs made from stone are popular in Tai Shan, it's like taking a part of the legend home with you. Popular items are stone vases and pen holders made from yanzi shi, a type of rock with fossils. Locals like to buy shi gandang, these pieces of rock are inscribed with the names of legendary heroes and it's believed they ward away evil spirits and bring good luck. Head towards Tai ShanWenhua Plaza near the First Gate of Heaven. Lots of small shops selling all sorts of souvenir items are located here. If you're looking to stock up on some basic goods, the Yichu Lianhua Supermarket is a good bet. The Yinzuo shopping center, near the train station on Dongyue Da Jie, is also a good place to do some shopping.
