The local cuisine makes use of the abundant herbs and spices that grow in the region. The mountainous region lends itself to a large selection of wild game that fill the menus. Its name literally means "great scholar dish" and was named after Zhu Xi, the Song dynasty Confucian scholar who is said to have frequently served this to his guests.
