Airport –Huang Shan Airport is in Tunxi, about 70km from the mountain. It takes about 10 minutes from the airport to the city by shuttle bus. A bus ride from the city to the Huang Shan Scenic Area costs RMB 10 and takes about an hour.
Bus –There is one daily bus that travels to Huang Shan directly from Shanghai. It leaves in the afternoon and arrives at Huang Shan around midnight. For the return trip there are two departing buses available at the Huang Shan Railway Station. One departs early in the morning and one in the evening.
Cable Car – Taking the cable car to get up Huang Shan is an easy way. It's open from 7:30am to 4pm during the winter and 8am to 4pm all other seasons. There are three cable car lines:
The Yungu Cable Car goes from Yungu Temple to Bai'e Ridge.
The Songgu Cable Car goes from the Songgu Nunnery to Songlin Peak.
The Yuping Cable Car goes from Ciguang Pavillion to Yuping Pavilion. All routes are RMB 56 for a one-way ticket.
Taxi – From Tunxi to Huang Shan is about 79km and taking a taxi will cost approximately RMB 100. Passengers may need to switch cabs halfway for the drivers to avoid paying extra registration fees. Within Tunxi City limits, transportation is cheap and quick. The city isn't very big and zippy tricycle motorbikes cost only RMB 2 to 3. Taxis are RMB 5 at flag-fall.
Train –There are daily trains shuttling between Huang Shan and Shanghai. |
