Louis Vuitton exhibits go on display in HK

An exhibition showcasing the art behind the products of world-famous fashion brand Louis Vuitton opened in the Hong Kong Museum of Art on Thursday and will run to Aug. 9.

The exhibition, dubbed "Louis Vuitton: A Passion for Creation", was officially opened by Henry Tang, chief secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ( HKSAR) government, VIPs from Louis Vuitton and French diplomats in Hong Kong.

The first section comprises Vuitton\'s antique trunks and suitcases which capture the work of artists and designers like Takashi Murakami, Stephen Sprouse and Richard Prince who use paintings, installations and sculptures.

The second section features a fine selection from the contemporary art collection of Foundation Louis Vuitton pour la Creation, including works by renowned Chinese, French and American artists.

A three-dimensional model and brief introduction to the forthcoming Fondation Louis Vuitton pour la Creation Museum designed by iconic architect Frank Gehry will also be displayed.

Meanwhile, seven young Hong Kong artists will be featured at the expo to show the creative expression and characteristics of local contemporary art.

The show is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the HKSAR government and Louis Vuitton in collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong.
