China tourism market to grow strongly

The domestic tourism market of China is anticipated to grow strongly during 2009-2012 on the back of several factors including economic liberalization and government support.

A new research report released by an industry research firm RNCOS helps to identify the economic importance of the various sub-segments of the tourism industry in China. It evaluates the performance of the inbound, outbound and domestic tourism market, based upon the revenue generated and the number of international and domestic travelers.

According to its research report "China Tourism Industry Forecast to 2012", the tourism industry in China has witnessed healthy growth, both in terms of revenue generated as well as the international and domestic tourist movement. The research has found that outbound tourist departure has been growing around 12% and foreign tourist arrival at 9%-10% in the recent years. The tourism market has been driven by various factors like economic liberalization, currency fluctuation, government support and favorable policy framework.

The study has identified changes in the Chinese tourism industry patterns along with the impact of recent economic crisis on the future outlook of the industry.

The report also covers the emerging trends for tourism industry like medical tourism, MICE tourism, online travel services and liberal view of the government on Approved Destination Status (ADS) scheme. For Chinese outbound travel market, ADS scheme is more important than any other parameters and it forms the desired platform for expansion of outbound travel services.
