Tourists hoping to lie on the beach and catch some rays in Hainan are about to find it less taxing on their wallets. Hainan's delegation to the National People's Congress (NPC) discussed waving visa fees for international tourists at the Great Hall of the People on March 7.
"Under the preferential policy issued by the State Council, Hainan is able to issue free visas to five more countries, including South Korea, Germany and Russia. Free visas are also now being offered to tour groups with more than 10 people," said Wei Liucheng, party secretary of Hainan Provincial Committee. Previously, only 26 countries were allowed to apply for the free visa.
Discussing other topics in the Government Work Report, Wei also commented that Hainan will try its best to achieve construction goals set by the State Council for the next 10 years.
