InterContinental Hotels Group's first Hotel Indigo in the Asia region is slated to open in Shanghai in time for the 2010 World Expo.
IHG says that it has signed a management contract with Shanghai Huangpu River Banks Asset Management Company and will bring its first lifestyle brand — Hotel Indigo — to the Bund in Shanghai.
The 180-room Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund will be located at the famous Pier 16 on the Huangpu River. To the south of the hotel is where the world will come together for the Shanghai World Expo in 2010.
Peter Gowers, chief executive of IHG Asia-Pacific, stated this is a landmark deal and Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund will be an oasis that meets the needs of the next generation of customers for a stylish and individual hotel experience that is both authentic and unpretentious.
