Guizhou Hotel introduces new check-out rule

Nenghui Hotel, a four-star hotel in Guiyang, Guizhou has taken the innovative step of changing the room check-out time from the previous "before noon" to "after 24 hours".

It has been a long held practice in the hospitality industry that guests must check out before 12:00 on the day of departure: otherwise they need to pay half of the daily room rate if they check out between 12:00 and 18:00 or pay a full day's room rate if they check out after 18:00.

Nenghui Hotel's new rule means that people only need to pay one day's room rate if they check out within 24 hours of checking in. This move has created controversy throughout the hotel industry in China. Some commentators think that Nenghui Hotel is making a costly mistake, however the hotel has not responded except by saying that it has changed its policy so as to offer greater flexibility to its customers.

The 149 room four-star Nenghui Hotel has been operating in Guiyang for six years.
