Welcome to Lijiang! Remember to visit the Mu's Residence. It is the home of chieftains who used to rule Lijiang. Now it stands as a "grand view palace" for the culture of Lijiang. Located in the southwest corner of the town, it is a architectural complex in imitation of the Forbidden City in Beijing. The most striking part is a stone archway called the Zhongyi (Loyalty & Righteouness) Archway.
World Horti-Expo Garden? Is it really cool?
Some resort destinations in China are very commercial and unappealing. However, if you are looking for a first-class tourist destination where you can learn about Chinese culture and the native vegetation, then I highly recommend seeing the World Horti-Expo Garden in N.E. Kunming, China. There are "theme" gardens representing every province in China, as well as museums and international exhibits.
