Day 1: Beijing/Datong (D)
Morning transfer to Beijing West Railway Station and take soft sleeper train to Datong. Upon your arrival in the afternoon, our English speaking guide will meet you at the railway station and transfer you to hotel for two nights stay. Local hotpot dinner is arranged for this evening.
Accommodation: 4 Star Datong Hotel (Or the same class)
Day 2: Datong (B+L+D)
Morning visit to Yungang Grottoes, which is one of the three renowned Buddhist grottoes in China. In the afternoon drive to the ancient border land between Han-Chinese and Normadic Mongolian Tribes to explore the Desheng Old Fort of Inner Great Wall.
Day 3: Datong/Shuozhou (B+L)
Full day tour to the Hanging Monastery, Wooden Pagoda (exterior view) and Chongfu Monastery which is an ancient Jurchen style complex. Transfer to hotel for two nights stay.
Accommodation: 4 Star Pingshuo Hotel (Or the same class)
Day 4: Shuozhou/Ningwu/Shuozhou (B+L)
After breakfast drive to Ningwu for sightseeing, on the way enjoying the Loess Plateau and China's Northern Mountain Ranges with dense forest. Visit the Ice Cave - a crystal world, and Hanging Village which is built in the midway of Guancen Mountain. Afternoon drive back to Shuozhou.
Day 5: Shuozhou/Pingyao (B+L)
After breakfast drive to Pingyao Ancient City. On the way enjoy the ancient Normadic-Khitan style Fort of Inner Great Wall and the ancient Battle Ground. Visit the Qiao Family Compound and Pingyao Ancient City in the afternoon. Transfer to local guesthouse for two nights stay.
Accommodation: Changyifeng Guesthouse
Day 6: Pingyao (B+L)
Whole day explore the ancient city. Visit the ancient City Wall, Ming Qing Street, local residence and ancient bank.
Day 7: Pingyao/Yuci/Beijing (B+L+D)
Full day tour to Hougou Village in Yuci. Explore traditional cave dwellings and village street. Traditional village styled lunch at local home yard and Shanxi Noodle Dinner are arranged today. After dinner, drive to Taiyuan Railway Station for the soft sleeper train back Beijing.
Day 8: Beijing
Back in Beijing. Make your own way to your hotel.
